HANDMAIDEN OF OLDER PRINCESS - faithful, optimistic, minds her duties, listens to gossip and tells her village friends of the castle action. Fancies the older knight, but keeps it fairly hidden.

GIRL OF REBELLION - helping her brother, a good archer, starting to see that their plans aren't very successful, won't be tricked into a one night stand by knight 3.
DAUGHTER OF LORD VONSAND - fancies the knights, is visiting her good friends, the princesses, but is smarter than she looks, likes knight 9.
BAKER'S DAUGHTER - helps her parents bake bread that they sell in the market and to the castle, often gives some secretly to the rebellion's leader and his sister, finds herself thinking of the boy and knight 1 more than she should.
MERCHANT'S DAUGHTER - daughter to a wealthy merchant, and therefore can afford pretty dresses, though she is far from being of noble blood. She's chatty and likes to gossip, but feels that she is very dignified, for she tries to act with good manners and dresses like lesser nobles. Her mother hopes for her to marry a lesser noble, and the girl finds herself completely smitten by knight 5.
PRINCESS FROM KILBAR - used to girls being more outspoken in her country and mild weather. Men are charmed by her obviously foreign appearance and accent, and she enjoys their attention. Wants to find a husband with money and rank, but finds herself intrigued by Knight 7.
HANDMAIDEN OF KILBAR PRINCESS - sweet and softspoken, she knows to keep her head down and do her work. Very curious and intrigued by Cydonia and its people, trying not get too hopeful about being noticed by the Knights Leader. Pursued by the Prince from Roldem, who she fears.
RETURNING GIRL - was part of the village when younger, but was accused of being a witch and escaped before they could stone or burn her at the stake. She's grown up more, wants revenge, and in her anger plots against the king. She thinks marrying a Prince would be marvelous, and handy for her plans.
BARON ROKE'S DAUGHTER - from the Kingdom of Roldem, she is here with her twin brother and father. Supposed to hopefully end up engaged to another noble, finds herself more interested in Knight 1. Elegant and well cultured, but unused to the country-ish environment and lack of paved streets.

KNIGHT 1 - from poor family, knighted through valour, hopes for greatness. He's suspicious of knight 9 and doesn't like the man, and also likes the Baron Vonsand's daughter.
KNIGHT 2 - from prestigious family, is under pressure to fill his father's shoes, fancies the younger princess, annoyed that he doesn't have a chance getting her, jousts in her name. He's intrigued by the rebel girl.
KNIGHT 3 - from nobility, vain, beds new women all the time. He's quite charming, but has a view on women that's less than honourable. He tends to leave them after a short while, perhaps even one night, though that doesn't keep women from lusting after him.
KNIGHT 4 - secretly the the visiting prince from Londor, likes to joust but isn't allowed to, since it puts him in harm's way, enjoys the elder princess' company, is surprised to be interested in the rebel girl.
KNIGHT 5 - noble, just found out and torn by the new information, raised by commoners after parents killed as a small child, pursued by the merchant's daughter.
Eamonn/Parker - knight 6 - valiant, chivalrous, moral, ideal knight, trying to figure out whats going wrong with his country, wants to maybe marry the princess, but finds himself eyeing the girl adopted into nobility.
KNIGHT 7 - eager to please his noble mother, does her bidding by threatening and secrecy to keep the family name feared and respected, wants own glory through jousting, quite interested in the Duke Wallace's daughter.
KNIGHT 9 - from the neighbouring enemy country, spying for his masters, a bit rude at times, but his good looks are hard to forget, making him a bit of a heart-throb to some, just starting to notice Baron Vonsand's daughter, and finds her interesting, but he's cautious, because of his duties. Doesn't like knight 1.
KNIGHT 10 - noble young man, raised on the border, is a brilliant fighter, used to hard work, looked down upon by nobles who live in actual 'civilization,' his father is the illegitimate older brother of the king, always feels the need to prove himself to the other nobles, as if he isn't truly of blue blood, isn't used to court fineries, not sure what to do with title of nobility.
PRINCE 1 - cares about his people, no desire to be king any time soon, a good young man, humble and humorous, and coming into his own. Finds himself falling for the girl with amnesia, brother to both princesses.

Secretly passing messages about Cydonia to Calimshan and doesn't know he's supposed to be 'disposed of' by Knight 9 once he's served his purpose. Thinks much of himself, dresses fancifully, haughty and arrogant in hopes of gaining high-ranking friends.
BAD GUY - adviser to King Northallen, who reigns the country enemy to King Mhonnen, he is annoyed with the botched job with Liadan; she was supposed to be dead, and her death was supposed to spur the King into declaring war on King Mhonnon's country. He's considering making a visit, himself, and finds Kind Mhonnen's younger daughter to be quite to his liking.
REBELLION BOY - trying to get back what was stolen by stealing from nobles, but doesn't realize that it's causing more taxes, and doesn't like the idea of his sister liking or being liked by anyone. Doesn't yet know of the baker's daughter's affections, likes the older princess' handmaiden a bit.
REBELLION SIDEKICK - close friend of the rebellion boy leader, secretly very jealous of his popularity in their band. This has led him to become ambitious, and his morals have become ambiguous. Has always fancied the rebellion boy's sister a bit.
REBELLION THIRD - also in the company of the little rebellion leader. Loyal to a fault, endearing, sometimes kind of foolhardy.
FRIAR - a bit plump, this merry man doesn't seem to quite fit his job, and although everyone likes him, his perverted thoughts only coming out rarely in speech
LEADER OF THE KNIGHTS - A young but war experienced man, he rose in ranks due to his cleverness and ambitious determination. He now works for the King, and fights for his attention with the wizard, had a past thing with Duke Wallace's daughter, now finds the blacksmith's sister [knight 8] to be quite intriguing.
SIR YORK- a charmer, boasts of the women he's bedded, a bit vain, spoiled by his rich, noble parents, but can certainly hold his own in a fight, might be forced to enter the army by his parents and hates the idea, a closet romantic, hopes to prove thimself while visiting the King's court. (York is the surname)
